Amino-XS® BCAA And EAA Intra Workout Drink 448 Grams has a rating of 4.5 stars based on 6 reviews.

DNA lean® Amino-XS® is a state of the art BCAA & EAA intra workout drink specifically designed to optimise athletic performance, stimulate muscle growth, and promote recovery from intense workouts.

If you need that extra push with your workouts and boost in exercise-recovey, along with having a naturally great-tasting amino acid supplement, then Amino-XS® is for you.

This is because at the core of our unique Amino-XS® supplement is a power packed 6 grams of fermented plant-based BCAA's in a 4:1:1 ratio.

Branched chain amino acids constitute the highest percentage of all the amino acids found in human muscle tissue. Furthermore, a single serving of Amino-XS® packs 4 grams of Leucine alone, which is proven by science to trigger the mTOR pathway stimulating muscle protein synthesis and hypertrophy.

Our premium BCAA's are then further backed up with an additional 7 grams of fermented plant based essential amino acids (EAA’s), leaving no stone unturned to ensure maximum nitrogen retention.

But that's not all.

Exercise-science shows that intense training, especially when performed on a lower caloric intake, can cause an increase in Cortisol.

Cortisol is a stress-related catabolic hormone that literally eats away hard-earned muscle tissue in order to supply the body with glucose for energy.

To further maximise the anabolic effects of Amino-XS® we have also added natural extracts of the herb Rhodiola Rosea; an adaptogenic herb that exhibits anti-catabolic properties and helps balance catabolic stress hormones such as Cortisol.

Keeping it real

We don’t claim that Amino-XS® will transform you into a Greek God, or propel you past Hafthor Bjornsson's 501 kilogram world record deadlift, but we are sure you'll think it's epic.

Ferm-Amino™ amino acids: The difference in quality

So here's the deal, Ferm-Amino™ amino acids are superior to regular amino acids in two ways. First they are derived from plant-based protein sources, such as corn.

Secondly, the separation process is much cleaner because the amino acids are extracted from proteins via natural fermentation that uses non-harmful enzymes.

Regular BCAA's and EAA's are chemically extracted

Regular amino acids are derived from waste animal products such as nails, claws and even hair & feathers. These waste products contain a protein known as keratin which contains various different amino acids.

Keratin proteins are then broken down via chemical extraction that uses toxic substances such as Potassium Cyanide.

This process yields amino acids in their free form that are then incorporated into sports suppplements.

The problem here is that, in some cases chemically extracted amino acids can be left with trace amounts of the chemicals used in the extraction process.

What does this mean for you?

With Ferma-Amino™ BCAA's and EAA's contained in DNA lean® Amino-XS®, you are guaranteed to get a premium nutritional product that is not only ethical, but also a much cleaner and superior product.

Amino-XS® is one of the purest products on the market - PERIOD.

Per serving it delivers 14.35 grams of ACTIVE ingredients. Each serving of Amino-XS® is 16 grams.

Do the maths, we don't use any cheap fillers of binders to artificially bump up the serving size.

Does your current intra workout stack up?

Vitamin B5 Pantothenic Acid (From Calcium Pantothenate)

Pantothenic acid forms part of the B complex - a family of water soluble vitamins. Each B vitamin has its own unique bio-functions though collectively they contribute to the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Vitamin B5 does however have a very unique and less well known benefit in that it can help buffer lactic acid through its intermediate function in the Krebs cycle (citric acid cycle). High levels of lactic acid can hamper physical performance, by reducing lactic acid levels, physical performance can be improved.

Vitamin B6 (As Pyridoxal-5-Phosphatecomplex)

There are several different preparations of vitamin B6 that are used in supplements. Some are more effective than others. We have chosen to use Vitamin B6 as Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (P-5-P). This preparation in particular is by far the most metabolically active form of any of the preparations of B6. Vitamin B6 has many different metabolic roles and functions within the human body that are vital to our health. For example vitamin B6 is involved in the synthesis of neurotransmitters and also has a key role in the process of gene expression. The most relevant metabolic functions of B6 in our DNA Lean® Amino-XS® formula is its role in the metabolism of amino acids. Because DNA Lean® Amino-XS® is high in BCAA's and Glutamine, we added B6 to the formula to help facilitate in the metabolism and assimilation of amino acids as muscle tissue.

Malic Acid

Malic acid plays a key role in the cellular generation of energy, and as such is known as a "Kreb's intermediate" molecule. The Krebs cycle is the process of respiration where by energy is produced in the form of a molecule called adenosine triphospate (ATP). ATP is what ultimately provides energy for your whole body let alone your muscles, and is constantly being generated in the mitochondrian (power houses) of every cell in your entire body through this cyclic energy process. Malic acid is a very useful supplement for any trainer; This powerful Kreb's intermediate acts a catalyst for increasing energy production by way of oxidising Pyruvic acid leading to ATP being produced from ADP. Malic acid also acts as a Lactic acid buffer and thus delays the onset of fatigue - enabling you to train harder and push further.

Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid (AKG)

Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid supports a positive nitrogen balance by promoting protein synthesis, and also plays a vital role in intra cellular energy generation processes. Optimised Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) production, from Kreb intermediate molecules ensures sustained energy levels and better athletic performance. This powerful Kreb intermediate molecule has been also shown to reduce elevated levels of ammonia which is proven to decrease athletic performance. Some studies also show that Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid may have a positive effect on buffering lactic acid levels; by buffering lactic acid and reducing muscle acidosis maximum physical performance can be sustained for longer.

Rhodiola Rosea

Perhaps more commonly referred to as Golden root or Arctic root. Rhodiola rosea is a flowering plant which is native to the much cooler regions of the globe such as the Arctic and also high up in the cold wilderness of the mountainous regions of central Asia and Europe. Rhodiola rosea really has to be one of natures wonder herbs. Known as an "adaptogen" (a phytonutrient that increases resistance to stress hormones) Rhodiola plays a key role in the DNA lean® Amino-XS™ formula by keeping your cortisol (a catabolic hormone that will eat your muscle tissue away) levels in check which you may otherwise find can be elevated from the stress of an intense workout.

BCAA's (Branched Chain Amino Acids)

All proteins are made of chains of smaller "building blocks" called amino acids. A different combination and arrangement of these building blocks will result in a different protein. Skeletal muscle tissue is made of protein, and hence amino acids. BCAA's are the most abundant amino acids of all the amino acids found in skeletal muscle tissue. Because BCAA's comprise the most part of our muscle tissue, supplementing with these is essential for enabling muscle growth. In particular, the branched chain amino acid Leucine is one of the most anabolic supplements you can use and is therefore why we chose such a high ratio of Leucine to the other branched chain amino acids Valine and Isoleucine, having a ratio of 4:1:1.

Essential Amino Acid Complex (EAA's)

Although DNA Lean® Amino-XS® is heavily loaded with the highly anabolic amino acid Leucine, along with the other two branched chain amino acids; Valine and Isovaline. We knew maximum nitrogen retention could not be achieved through BCAA's alone! Therefore we added in an additional six grams of essential amino acids (EAA's) in a specific ratio that would closely match that of human muscle tissue; the end result being an even split of BCAA's/EAA's all dosed in precise ratios and thus further maximising nitrogen retention and muscle anabolism. The end result being a whopping twelve grams of amino acids per serving!

Glutamine

Glutamine is classed as a conditionally essential amino acid; while the body can manufacture Glutamine from metabolising other amino acids, it can become conditionally essential when the body is in a catabolic state. Intense workouts which cause micro tears to muscle tissue can put the body in a catabolic state. Supplementing with Glutamine during an intense workout can help counter any catabolism (breakdown and loss of muscle tissue). Glutamine is also "cell volumising" and as such will help "pump up" your muscles literally while you are working out. Glutamine may also help aid in your recovery - the medical community even use Glutamine to help reduce patient recovery times after surgery.

DNA Lean® Amino-XS® has been designed to provide you with the right ingredients, in the right ratios, at the right time. During a workout, blood flow is directed to the particular muscle that is being trained; this has been dubbed as getting "the pump", or otherwise known scientifically as hyperemia. If you have heard that consuming BCAA's intra workout benefits muscle growth and recovery, you have been well informed! Here's why; hyperemia, the increase in blood flow, is your one way golden ticket to force feeding your muscles essential and anabolic nutrients, and as such is something that EVERY trainer and athlete should take advantage of. How can you achieve this? Simply sip on DNA Lean® Amino-XS® during your workout. Because DNA Lean® Amino-XS® contains anabolic pre-digested ingredients, such as branched chain amino acids; you do not have to wait for the lengthily process of these nutrients passing through your entire digestive system in order to be broken down so that they can enter your blood stream. You can quickly take advantage of the window of opportunity of hyperemia, get your nutrient timing bang on and force feed your muscles with BCAA's, creatine, glutamine and all the good stuff, all in one go. This is why DNA Lean® Amino-XS® is best to be consumed during times of intense physical activity because it has all the key ingredients to help you perform and train at your best, reduce DOMS, and kick start your recovery and anabolic muscle building processes.

Do I need to cycle using Amino-XS®?

No. Amino-XS® is a food supplement and does not contain any stimulants, therefore your body will not build up any "tolerance" to any of its ingredients. The human body has a constant need for proteins and amino acids and as such Amino-XS® can be used continually with out the need of any "off periods". Prolonged use of Amino-XS® will only lead to improved training, recovery and muscle gain.

What are the essential amino acids (EAA's)?

Essential amino acids or EAA's are amino acids that cannot be synthesised by the body and therefore have been dubbed as "essential" because these need to be consumed through the diet. There are 9 essential amino acids in total: phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, methionine, lysine, histidine, Valine, Isovaline & Leucine.

What are branched chain amino acids (BCAA's)?

Of course BCAA's are also essential amino acids, however, due to their unique molecular branch like structure, the three amino acids; Valine, Isovaline & Leucine, have been appropriately name as BCAA's or Branched Chain amino acids.

Is Glutamine an essential amino acid?

Glutamine is most commonly referred to as a non-essential amino acid. This is probably because it is the most abundant free amino acid in the human body. However new research indicates "that during catabolism, the tissue demands for glutamine exceed the endogenous production of this amino acid, resulting in a state of glutamine deficiency". Thus we feel that glutamine is more appropriately classed as conditionally essential.

What benefits does Glutamine have?

Aside from its anti-catabolic properties, glutamine is also vital for proper immune function and studies show that immune cell replication requires glutamine. However, the conditionally essential glutamine cannot be synthesised by immune cells and therefore the "immune cost" of glutamine must be paid for by skeletal muscle cells. Needless to say this process leaves skeletal muscle tissue depleted of glutamine and potentially in a catabolic state. This is one of the reasons we added a whopping 3 grams of glutamine per serving of Amino-XS®.

Is taking large doses of Glutamine on its own beneficial?

Needles to say that glutamine has a heap of benefits, but the answer is not so simple as to throw down a ton of powdered free-form l-glutamine to make up any deficit caused by intense training! Supplementing with large doses of pure glutamine leads to a significant increase in ammonia. This is bad news as ammonia is toxic to all cells, reduces glycogen synthesis, negatively affects kidney function, and amongst other things, is proven to decrease performance.

Therefore a successful sports supplement should be able to provide a significant dose of glutamine, while being able to reduce ammonia accumulation. Amino-XS does just that by combining Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid (AKG) with high doses of branches chain amino acids (BCAA), glutamine and other essential amino acids (EAA's). AKG is the ammonia free carbon skeleton of glutamine and acts as an ammonia scavenger.

What is the significance of alpha ketoglutaric acid in Amino-XS®?

Because Alpha Ketoglutaric Acid has an ammonia free carbon chain, it has the ability to "mop up" excess ammonia and significantly reduce ammonia accumulation. AKG therefore works in perfect congruence with glutamine and the other BCAA's in maintaining an anti-catabolic/anabolic environment and supporting peak performance by reducing ammonia accumulation.

What do BCAA supplements do?

BCAA's have two main functions. The first is that they stimulate protein synthesis; Leucine is proven to trigger the mTOR pathway. In lay-terms, the triggering of mTOR sparks off the process of the construction of new muscle proteins. Providing all the other essential amino acids are present, new muscle tissue can be built - resulting in bigger muscles. BCAA's are highly anabolic. They second function of BCAA's is that they are anti-catabolic and therefore protect against muscle loss. BCAA's are the only amino acids that are burnt for energy directly in skeletal muscle tissue. Exercise, particularly resistance training induces the breakdown of muscle BCAA stores. Consuming BCAA's during training therefore also has an anti-catabolic effect.
